Thankful For A Reason To Be Positive
Have you noticed that we seem to be having a lot of public protests these days? There is scarcely a day that goes by without the news being about some group’s discontent. The majority of these gatherings are peaceful though some have escalated to violence. It has become apparent that a hostel spirit spreads hostility. We should not be surprised when people find things which they do not like. That is exactly what they are looking to find. People search for fault and they discover it. Could it be that their focus is in the wrong direction? After all, if they spent their time, efforts and money seeking to find positive things isn’t it possible that their discoveries would be different? Those who are determined not to find anything positive will get mired down in the negatives they exalt.
Those of us who know Jesus should have a different view point. Romans 12:21 tells us, “Be not overcome by evil but overcome evil with good.” The believer should not go through life looking for the worse that could happen. We know the King of Kings and Lord of Lord’s. He has provided us with forgiveness and redemption. In Jesus we have victory for this life and for the life to come and it is true that “everyday with Jesus is sweeter than the day before.” No, everything is not right in the world but we are not of the world. In Jesus, there is hope, joy and peace and He is the one our world needs. Focusing on Jesus can turn protests into praise.
